Maria Shlumukova - Shiatsu practitioner at Meadowlark Yoga

Shiatsu is a wonderful form of healing bodywork.  I first discovered Shiatsu in 2009 when I received my first session, I was amazed at how relaxed, yet energised I felt afterwards.  I quickly signed up to study this wonderful practice which felt like part massage, part energy healing and you don't even have to take your clothes off!

I have been a Shiatsu practitioner since 2012, working from The Healthy Life Centre & Edinburgh Shiatsu Clinic. I am interested in assisting people to reduce stress & physical issues in their lives and find the elusive balance that we all seek.
It's so easy to push our needs aside and not practice kindness to ourselves, whether during our regular busy routine or at times of increased stress or sadness. Often when we slow down & pay attention to ourselves, we can start to take steps to resolve physical & emotional issues that have been bothering us.

Making the time to have a Shiatsu session is a great first step.

Please call or email me if you would like to book a session or have any questions.
I look forward to hearing from you.

What is Shiatsu?
Shiatsu translates as ‘finger pressure’ and is based on traditional Japanese massage.  Combining acupressure, massage, flowing movement and joint rotations helps to disperse tension, reduce pain, promote relaxation and healthy functioning of the body systems (circulation, breathing, digestion etc.). Shiatsu  therapists are guided by their experience & knowledge of physiology and traditional Chinese medicine and apply pressure using fingers, thumbs, palms and elbows and combine it with other techniques.
